Random Things that Freaked Out My Kid at Disney World (in her words)

Hello! I am Amelia. Today I will be talking about things I was scared of Disney World when I was little. Maybe this will help you prepare for your trip to Disney with your kids.

A little girl pretending to be scared with her hands on her cheeks at a restaurant in Disney World

I’m scared of this article.

Ursula on the Little Mermaid Ride

A picture of Ariel on the Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Magic Kingdom in Disney World. It's an animatronic in her grotto singing Part of Your World.

Here’s a picture of Ariel on the ride. We don’t have any pictures of Ursula.

When I was younger, I was scared of the little mermaid ride, because of Ursula. Every single time I went on it, I didn’t even look at her because of how scared I was. At the time, (I think) I didn’t like the song. Then, I figured out that once, her head broke off as an animatronic! I wasn’t there for that.

The Haunted Mansion

SpOoKy!!!!

When we walked past the haunted mansion, I was really scared of it. I still don’t even like the music there, even though I’m 9 years old now.

But I wanted to impress my parents, so I went on it. It was SO dark and scary that the only thing I wanted to do was leave (But honestly, it was REALLY funny!).

Expedition Everest

A mural of the yeti on the first hill. You have to look up.

At Expedition Everest, I was scared of the yeti, Betty (The workers call it that). Also, the ride yanked me back and forth. (My dad tried to help me by trying to scare the yeti!) In the attraction, one part of the ride the track is broken, and you go backwards It feels like you are flying!

My dad is crazy trying to scare the yeti.

Winnie the Pooh Ride

There’s a dream in the winnie the pooh ride, and I didn't like it at all. I’m actually still recovering from it (#JK!#LOL!). (I think pooh ate too much honey! #LOL!) But I'm not scared anymore.

I even refused to be in this picture with my sister and Winne the Pooh at 1900 Park Fare.

Dandelion Head at Coronado Springs

We stay in the Gran Destino tower at Coronado Springs a lot. Destino’s “Dandelion Head” scared me so much that my dad had to cover it with wrapping paper once! It was Christmas time.

Two pictures side by side. One shows the dancing dandelion head on top a woman's body from Dali's Disney Movie destino. The other is a painting that's been covered by wrapping paper and decorations. The staff at the hotel had to cover the painting up

Here’s what the painting looked like before and after.

But I'm not scared anymore. The painting comes from a short that plays nonstop in the Coronado Springs resort hotel lobby. You will see the painting in your bathroom if you stay there.

Splash Mountain Vultures

I was scared of the Splash Mountain Vultures when I was the ages 5-7. For some reason I didn’t like their sound! (#LOL!). I guess they’re gone now, but I’m sure there’ll be something spooky about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Rainforest Volcano

A picture of the volcano erupting at the top of Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs. It shoots out fire at regular intervals.

This picture explains why I was scared.

Near the Rainforest Cafe in Disney Springs, there is a fake volcano, and I was scared of it when I was the ages 2-6. But now I try to get a vid of the flames if I can!

Everybody at Chef Mickey’s Except Minnie Mouse

When I was little (like the ages 2-4), at Chef Mickey’s, I was scared of everyone except Minnie Mouse. I mean, I would hug her and take pictures, but I was still a little scared of her, too. With Mickey, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, or Pluto, I’d hide behind my mom!

A little girl is scared of Pluto but embracing Minnie Mouse at Chef Mickey's at Contemporary resort in Disney World

Like I said, mom protection.

Reminder:

Your child will most likely be scared of these things.(But probably not the “Dandelion head” from Disney’s short “Destino” that you see in every room in Disney’s Coronado springs, or Winnie the Pooh's dream.)

What things were you or your kids scared of at Disney World? Let me know in the comments.
