Disney Springs Lego Minifigure Factory Experience

What is the Lego Minifigure Factory?

The Lego Minifigure Factory is opportunity online or in a Lego store to create a custom minifigure (Lego character). You’ll use a special computer to design the shirt (front and back) for your minifig, and they’ll print it right there in the store (or ship it to you if online). You get to choose the pants, head, hair, and accessories from a large bank. It’s an awesome way to create a one-of-a-kind Lego character to add to your collection.

Here’s the area in the back of the store where we made our minifigs. This use to be an entrance to the store.

This is a great opportunity if you’re looking for something special for a kid who’s either not into traditional Disney experiences or has done everything (or, like my kids, really loves Legos). It’s also relatively inexpensive.

My daughters and I tried it out this summer and loved it. All of us have our minifigs displayed on our desk. Mine is a wizard that has the Second Dad to the Right logo (as best I could make it. I’m a blogger, not a graphic designer).

Here’s my attempt. I’m no graphic designer, and I didn’t go in there with a plan. He has muttonchops because there aren’t a lot of grown men faces.

The cost is $12. You’ll receive your custom Minifigure shirt, choose pants, head, hat, and other accessories, and then you’ll receive a block with your name and box to display everything.

Disney Springs Lego Store Location

The Disney Springs Lego Store Location is located almost in the center of Disney Springs. It’s near the water, in front of the World of Disney store, and next to T-Rex Restaurant. If you miss those landmarks, look for the giant Lego statues (Brickley the Lego Sea Serpent!) coming out of the water. If you’re having trouble, just use your GPS app or My Disney Experience app to locate and navigate to it.

The Lego Store sits next to World of Disney, right in front of the lake at Disney Springs.

The first thing you’ll probably notice when you arrive at the Disney Springs Lego Store is a possible line wrapped around the building. This store is small and incredibly popular, so they have to monitor capacity for fire code reasons. Usually, the line moves quickly as guests use the exit.

An important thing to remember is that this is NOT the line for the Minifigure Factory. The registration, if you decide to walk up (more on that in the next section), is in the back of the store in a roped-off section. We’ve seen no correlation between the line to get in the store and the line for the Minifigure Factory. We went once when there was no line but a 45-minute wait for the Minifig Experience, and we went when it was packed but no wait for the minifigures.

A large computer screen surrounded by Legos displays the Lego Minifigure factory, separating the area from the rest of the Disney Springs Lego Store. It has a large Lego minifig on the left that changes as you edit the shirt on the right.

How to Reserve a Spot for the Lego Minifigure Factory

There are two ways to register for the Lego Minifigure Factory. First, you can register online. This process is not very intuitive on their website. It will keep cycling you back and forth between the Minifig Factory page and the store page unless you scroll to find the right link….So here is the correct link for Disney Springs location https://lego-booking.appointedd.com/widget/63eba26adc59ff20ebc8352d.

The other option is to just walk up and join the waiting list (after waiting to get into the store). My recommendation is to attempt to do it online first, especially if this is planned ahead of time. However, if you’re having trouble with that, or you’re already at Disney Springs, just walk up and take a shot. That’s what we did.

Customizing the Shirt

Once you’re invited back into the Minifig Factory area, the employee will give you a quick tutorial of the customization process. They’ll show you how to create shapes, text, color, and other design features for you to create the perfect customization of your minifigure.

Here’s my monitor display as a I created my minifigure at the Disney Springs store. My minifig has my feeble attempt to make the Second Dad to the Right logo.

Despite the crowd, I was able to get the employees help me troubleshoot various ideas. They were knowledgeable and friendly.

Tip: To lower your anxiety and speed up the process, decide what you’re going to design before you step up to the computer.

After you finish your design, the employee will send it to the printer. It takes about 15 minutes to print. Meanwhile, you’re free to figure out what accessories you want.

The Accessories

After you finish designing the torso/shirt of your customized minifigure, you’re free to select accessories. There are multiple large bins full of heads, hair, hats, and accessories like swords and staffs. Despite there being hundreds of choices, I found the selection to be a little limited. The only head with facial hair was muttonchops. Of course, this is primarily a kids’ experience, so they may not carry a lot of adult faces. My daughters had no problem finding faces and hair styles that suited them.

One of several accessory towers that we could choose from to pick heads, hats, hair, pants, other accessories. I picked a wizard hat with a sword (weird choice, I know), and some pants with a chain wallet.
