Best Portable Chargers for Disney World

Having a good, portable charger at Disney World or Disneyland is more important than ever. You need your phone for pictures and video to capture the memories. You need your cell phone to book dining reservations, check ride times, locate attractions on the map, and navigate Genie Plus, Virtual Queues, and Lightning Lanes. You need your cell phone for Disney trivia or playing Heads Up in line. You need it to find your friends and family and to book and Uber at the end of the night.

What you don’t need is for your phone to die, to have to sit at a restaurant or charger station (Rapunzel’s bathroom area in Magic Kingdom and Celebration Gardens at EPCOT are great choices, though) and charge it up. Or worse, you don’t want to be without your phone and possibly your tickets.

So I went to Facebook and Reddit groups and rounded up the most frequently recommended portable chargers. There was over 20 different chargers suggested, but here are the most frequent ones and some that offer unique features. Here’s the best portable chargers or power banks for Disney. If you want to skip this article and go straight to Amazon to see reviews for yourself, I put all of these into an idea list on Amazon for you. Just click the button.

Anker

The most frequently recommended brand for a portable charger (by a sizable margin) is Anker. It’s known to be a reliable brand with fast charging, large capacity battery, without being too bulky. However, most people didn’t specify which product, so I did some digging to give you a few different options.

Anker 20,000

What I like about this product:

It has the largest battery allowed on a airplane without special permission. It can charge anything using a regular USB charger and USB-C, and it can do both at the same time. You can get 2-4 charges without recharging, depending on your phone, and it’s not too much larger than a phone. I certainly feel this is the best portable charger for my iPhone 15.

Anker 10,000 Wireless Magnetic Charger

What I like about this product:

This looks like a smaller version of the one of above, but it charges wirelessly and attaches to phones magnetically. It also has a stand, allowing you to use it like a tv. It can also be connected with a cord. This is a great option because it has a larger battery life than most miniature chargers. It’s more expensive, though.

Anker 26,800

What I like about this product:

This product has incredibly high ratings on Amazon. It has a huge battery (possibly not allowed on airplane). It can charge 3 devices simultaneously, and it can be recharged using to different power supplies, allowing for a much faster recharge. Make sure you buy the right accessories, though.

Fuel Rods

No conversation about portable chargers at Disney would be complete without discussing Fuel Rods. Fuel Rods have the envious position of having some kind of deal with Disney where you can exchange a spent Fuel Rod in the parks for free (once you buy the first one). They are small, don’t hold much of a charge, but can be swapped out without having to recharge them yourself.

The initial purchase can be pricey, but then the convenience is undeniable. Luckily, you can buy cheaper Fuel Rods to take with you from Amazon. And they’ll be new instead of used like most in the machines at Disney. Each one has a measly 2600 mah, good for maybe one half to one full charge (some people report only 20%). I personally don’t prefer Fuel Rods because I want to deincentivize Disney partnering with inferior tech.

Pxwaxpy and Iniu Portable Chargers

I add these two chargers to the list because they are the only brands that come anywhere close to the recommendations that Anker got. They are cheaper, off brand alternatives that still have good ratings on Amazon. Get the Pxwaxpy for an enormous battery. Get the Iniu for a more budget size.

Pxwaxpy 30,800

What I like about this product:

It has a large battery at less cost than an Anker, typically. It also has a LED read out telling you exactly how much battery it has left. I don’t like it’s no-name brand, makes me suspicious of consistent quality. It’s also too big to take on an airplane.

What I like about this product:

It has a decent size battery at a decent price, and can charge multiple devices at once. And it has a cute paw print.

Best Mini-Charger for Disney World

If you want something pocket size, so that you don’t have to carry tons of stuff with you, or you don’t have a bag, check out this mini charger. It won’t get you more than one charge, but it’ll help you keep the phone alive and conserve space. The one I picked here can charge directly using USB-C, charge wirelessly, and even charge your Apple Watch.

Wall Charging Portable Charger

This charger has a unique feature where you can plug it directly into the wall at night to charge. The convenience means you need less cables with you when you travel. It also has built-in attachments for your phone, which means even less cables. This charger takes convenient to another level.

Best Solar Charger for Disney World

One final option for portable chargers is a solar charger. This can be charged by a wall charger, but during the day the sun can help keep its charge so that you can get an outsized number of charges for your devices. However, you’ll need a stroller or some way to keep it in the sun to fully utilize it, and the solar charge is relatively slow. I have two listed here. One is a large capacity battery. The other one is compliant with airplane policies and charges wirelessly.

Conclusion and Further Reading

This list should give you some good ideas for portable chargers to Disney World, Disneyland, Universal, concert festival, or any place where you need your phone a lot and can’t charge it. Here’s a few tips to make sure it works out for you.

First, you can only bring a portable charger that has 100 watt-hours or less on a plane.  The formula for this is milliamps (mah) x volts / 1000. Most portable chargers are 5V, so the max you can take on a plane is 20,000 mah. This is simplistic, so look up the details on google if you’re unsure, but make sure you’re in compliance. Also, portable chargers need to be in your carry-on luggage and not your checked baggage.

Second, make sure you purchase all the necessary cords and adapters you need. Most chargers won’t come with what you need for your phone or wall charging.

Third, portable chargers probably won’t charge as fast as you would like. Therefore, don’t wait until your device is almost dead before you plug it in. Maybe start at like 30%.
